Congratulations to Katie in Grade 1 for winning the Estimation of Goldfish in a Jar. She guessed 805 and the actual amount was 757. Congratulations to Ben in Grade 3 for winning the measurement of the length of the stick. His guess was 58cm and the actual length was 58cm. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Canyon School will be participating in this year’s 44th Anniversary of Terry Fox’s Marathon of Hope on Friday, September 20th at 12:15pm. This will be a whole school walk with classes walking together. Parents and community members are invited to join us on the walk. Please ensure your child has a pair of indoor shoes. Indoor shoes are to be kept at the school, either in the student's classrooms or on the shelf above their hook. Outdoor shoes will be stored on the rack in boot room. We do ask that all children become in the habit of changing out their shoes for both safety and cleanliness of our learning environment. Wearing indoor shoes helps prevent accidents and keeps our school clean. We kindly ask that each child brings a pair of indoor shoes to keep at school. Please contact your child's teacher directly if you are unable to provide a pair of indoor shoes. Thank you.
There are many more students riding the bus at the end of the day and it is going much smoother. Please note that students may only ride the bus to which they are assigned. Parents may not provide permission notes for student's to ride buses outside of their assigned routes. Bussing only transports from home to school and school to home. They do not take students to daycare or babysitters or friend's houses after school. Thank you for your cooperation.
LRSD has posted an update on Attendance Matters. We want to work together with families to eliminate unnecessary absences and ensure regular attendance for student success. Please prioritize school and communicate the importance of regular attendance. It can be helpful to have regular evening and bedtime routines. If attendance is becoming an issue, please reach out to the school office or directly to your child's teacher. Thank you.
We have launched a school app - Canyon2Go - for outgoing school communication. Please be sure to sign up and subscribe to your child's class(es). Parents are able to send attendance notifications when children are absent, as well as, access our school news. Along with using the student agenda, teachers will also be sending home classroom communication and reminders through this app.
